Here’s the first edition of the History Is Ephemeral Carnival
Hopefully the first of many as the collecting and collectors of ephemera continue to rise. Put together by Kitsch Slapped’s Deanna Dahlsad, also a staff writer at Collectors’ Quest and many other blogs, this initial offering includes nine articles plus one honorable mention. The topics:
- The New Pathway to Slenderness, 1938 is about a vintage booklet
- In Which I Try To Meet The Missus And End Up With Tommy Bartlett is about a board game
- On Ephemera, Collectibles, Value and Specifically World War II Era Movie Star Bus Passes is by yours truly and appears on this blog
- Through the Looking Glass is about a holography brochure
- Hot On The Historical Ephemera Trail… In The National Enquirer? is about a 1979 edition of the National Enquirer
- 1965: Legal Marital Rape is about an entry in the 1965 Dell Purse Book
- Don’t Always Judge Sheet Music By Its Cover (Or Cover Price) is, yes, about sheet music
- Yes, Studies in Crap Would Like A Side of Hobo Pie: The Branson Country Music Cookbook is, ahem, about a 1992 country music cookbook
- You Can’t Judge A Racist Nun By Her Habit, Part Three (Or, The Little Chink In Sister’s Armor) features a songbook with an unfortunately titled ditty
- About the Titanic – The Most Sumptuous Palace Afloat was the honorable mention, not really qualifying but including tons of minute info about the Titanic.
The 2nd edition of the History Is Ephemeral Carnival is scheduled for May 29, which I believe is also the deadline for the issue. Submit your entry here.
Hey, it’s early in the life of this project, so you’ve got a better than average chance of having your piece accepted which can bring you some pretty nice exposure. Go for it, I will!
