1917 Kromo Gravure
"no borders"
From Detroit, MI. Measures appx. 2" x 3-3/8". Blank backs.
 This
page take a look at the "No Borders" version of the
Kromo Gravure sets.
The first time I saw one of these I just assumed I had bought a set of trimmed
cards, but as I've kept buying I've come across three of these sets now and
feel pretty safe saying that this was just one of the few ways that the Kromo
Gravure Photo Co. out of Detroit, MI issued their cards.
The one side of the box shown at the left looks exactly like
boxes I've seen for both the "Rounded Border" sets and the more standard sets
which are numbered Set #1, Set #2, Set #3 (Kromo 1,2,3). I've included
an image of the box that the first set of "No Bordered" cards that I had
acquired some time ago on the main Kromo Gravure page, however this box was a
little different as the other side of it actually had a "no bordered" card
attached to it.
Even a little more interesting was that there was a Mary
Pickford card in this "no border" set of 50, but a different card from the one
attached to the box!
Immediately below you'll find the main purpose of this page --
since I scanned them anyway I thought I'd include all 50 images here for your
enjoyment. As noted on the main Kromo Gravure page, this and the other Kromo sets do seem to have some variation from set to set, but these 50 just
happen to be the 50 included in this particular set. Enjoy:
