These
small high-quality photos were apparently
distributed by MGM as promotional items both directly to fans and also to
promotions such as the Watkins Mulsified Shampoo Radio Show (see left and read
below). At the right is an example of an envelope in which a batch of
these photos were sent directly to a fan. Click thumbnail to enlarge.
The page at the left was the first page of a scrapbook which contained each of the photos below, one to a page, corner-mounted. The introduction page reads as follows: "All Pictures in this book came from M - G - M Program by Watkins Mulsified Shampoo Co., W-J-Z 8:00-9:00. The year is 1936 because for each photo mentioning a film title that film was released in 1936. The solo shots of the stars are very similar to many 8x10 Promotional Photos we have seen before, except in size. Backs are blank, real photos.
