Movie cards, of course, these Dutch trading cards date a little later than most of the movie issues I handle, thus for once I’ve got stars in stock such as Elizabeth Taylor, Esther Williams, Virginia Mayo and a whole lot of Doris Day.  Actually Day and Roy Rogers must have been the big rage in Holland at the time as there are several different cards of each of them available, while most of the other stars only have a single entry or sometimes two into the set.

There are approximately 80 individual cards listed at auction on eBay … all minimum bids between $3.99-$6.99 … select cards also include Buy it Now option for immediate purchase.

There is no Photo ID Guide on the site for these 1954 Klene’s Film Stars trading cards, but I’ve included a few that I particularly liked on this page.  Immediately below you’ll find a sample of the reverse side of these cards.

This particular lot of cards was acquired from somebody who’d contacted me from Australia to sell the lot for an elderly friend.  While I could make these sound real pretty as nearly all of them do have razor sharp edges and corners and absolutely no creases, there is a common defect which runs through the lot—age toning.

1954 Klene Pier Angeli

The borders should be white as with the Pier Angeli card shown on this page, most are yellow as shown with the others.  A few cards have surface creases or wrinkles on the reverse, often near the corners.  To take you back to 1954, here’s what happened:

The individual cards were corner mounted into an album, the album was stored in a basement or more likely attic where occasionally moist conditions were followed by dry heat.  The years and the weather caused the toning.  The removal from the album caused the occasional wrinkles.  By the same token the album’s protection kept usual condition factors (corners, edges, creasing) minimal.

The current minimum bids represent a discount over typical retail pricing which will be reflected next week when left over items are offered at higher rates through eBay’s Buy it Now—in other words, you want ‘em cheap, now’s the time to bid!

You can bid or buy these recently acquired 1954 Klene’s Val Gum cards on eBay.  Auctions end Monday and Tuesday night, February 8-9, 2010.

Shipping will be combined with a single charge applying to the lot no matter the size, ie: U.S. First Class shipping is $2 for any single card; $2 for any 5 cards; $2 for all 80 cards.

These 1954 Klene’s movie cards can also be combined to ship with any other trading or tobacco cards stocked in my eBay store.
