My name is Cliff Aliperti and I’ve been selling collectibles pretty much my entire life, starting out with baseball cards, but touching just about everything in between on the way to my current specialties, Movie Cards and Collectibles from the Silent Period through the 1950s and Magazine Back Numbers from the Nineteenth Century to present. I’ve been selling online since 2000, full-time since 2004. things-and-other-stuff.com is the first of several collectibles related websites I’ve launched during that time, established 2002.
About “Brief Notes” – Falling somewhere in between a Tweet and an Article, Brief Notes are basically a record of my stream of conscious thoughts soon after viewing a classic film. They are opinion and observation which are intended to entertain and possibly on some level inform. On a personal note they are my own movie log, but hopefully on a public level they will provide another online outlet to talk about classic movies.
Brief Notes evolved from my writing more and more about classic movies throughout 2009. I had originally intended to include a lot of movie content on another site of mine, the VintageMeld, when it launched in December 2008. And it started out that way, but somewhere along the way the VintageMeld turned into more of a general collectibles site. From the Meld I moved my movie talk to the Examiner.com where I am currently the NY Classic Movies Examiner. While I enjoy writing for Examiner their guidelines call for a more journalistic approach and specifically warn against blogging or editorial style work. And so my posts over there largely consist of classic film television schedules adorned with images of classic movie collectibles as well as the occasional deeper article.
Brief Notes is where I’ll have the chance to speak in my way about classic movies. An entry may be just a paragraph, maybe a few, but they’ll never be presented as anything more than my thoughts written in a more conversational style than I use elsewhere. Enjoy–

Hello- very interesting site! I am contacting you because I am trying to find a source for more info about an old photo taken in 1920-1 of my mother standing in front of a gorgeous huge home. Caption on back says that Carmel Myers and Edward Burns rented rooms upstairs and that they took my aunt to the studio because she resembled Baby Peggy Montgomery. I am trying to find out more about this old home- if it is still there. House number is either 7001 or 1001. Large building next door looks like something that might have survived today. Any lead is appreciated. Jim
Hi Jim, sorry I can’t be of any help on this, but I allowed the comment to post just in case somebody else can. Good luck! Cliff
