Movie Profiles & Premiums
Supplement. December 21, 2005 Yep, just as my eBay listings didn't go away I've decided to bring the newsletter back for the new year. After all, if I didn't miss it I wouldn't be sending out these "supplements" would I? I think I burned myself out on this newsletter by trying to put out two issues per month too often and trying to include too much content. While I only wrote the Introductions and Photo ID Guides myself it still usually took up almost and entire work day for me to put the issues together. What I'm thinking for 2006 is one issue per month with no supplements sent out in between--I've been posting regularly to my blog, so interested parties can head over there in between issues to see what's up. The first issue of Random Issues, my new magazine collecting newsletter, went out last month and I'll be sending that out at the end of each month, so I'll send this newsletter out on the 15th of each month. As of this issue I'll no longer be including entire articles in the issues you receive via e-mail, but just a link to the page where the article is located on things-and-other-stuff.com, along with a brief abstract when I feel that it's appropriate. As of this time I'm thinking just one new profile per issue. I began buying a few movie collectibles again, but plan to continue concentrating on old magazines--that said, when I come across something new I will put together a Photo ID Guide and include it in the issue (as in this issue). There may not be a new one each issue. In those cases, I'll likely link to a Photo ID Guide "classic", just a reminder of a page already on the site that newer subscribers may not be familiar with. I'll also continue these chatty introductions. I like reaching out to whoever wants to listen and sharing some of my experiences in the online selling world. Don't forget that I have a Movie Collectibles category set aside in my eBay store. I recently picked up and split another set of my favorites, the 1916 MJ Moriarty Playing cards, so there are singles available for immediate purchase in the store. Soon I'll be listing some 1920's theatre house programs that I bought recently as well. I'm trying to limit my movie collectible purchases to Silent Era items, unless I see something unusual or special from a later date. So, what's new on the site? Well:
Mary Pickford in The Silent
Collection by Tammy Stone I continued to overhaul the site's navigation which is likely leading to a short-term abundance of 404 Errors from the search engines. It's a bit messy so I haven't placed a direct link to it on the site itself, but there is a complete Sitemap available that I've been updating with every change. If you'd like timely posts on what I'm listing for sale, site updates, and other notes please check out the blog. I've gotten in the habit of posting over there with every move I make. RSS feeds are available for the blog and eBay store listings. Just save the addresses to your Blog Reader. If you don't have a reader the one that I'm using is BlogExpress, which is a free download. Happy Holidays to everyone, no matter what you celebrate. If you're stuck for a gift for a movie lover, I tried out a one-month gift certificate from Netflix.com. Hopefully they enjoy the serivice as much as I have! I'll be back with a regular issue on January
15. Happy New Year!
