WARM-UPS:
Hope you had the happiest of New Year's and have readjusted to a regular working schedule once again--I was beginning to forget when to report to my day job!  I'd like to begin this issue by patting myself on the back.  Finally, things-and-other-stuff has made eBay Powerseller status.  What a terrible bit of pressure that was, as soon as you read the e-mail congratulating you it's time to think about selling more to keep that nice Powerseller logo by your name!

Still on Ruby Lane for the time being.  Old-time VHS sales on Half.com is going very well, so well that we've had to go on a spending spree here to get more videos!  I'm honestly very surprised at how successful the Half.com venture has been--I'm used to having my goods cherry-picked by the buyers when they debut somewhere, but in this case we're only trying to offer quality titles and I have a feeling that if we keep it up the sales will keep up as well. Time will tell.

Baseball card collector's, we have nice mid and higher grade 1965 Topps commons (heavy on the hi-numbers and short prints) listed on eBay right now at fixed prices.  Wrestling fans, we've had bulk shipments of wrestling magazines arriving more often than not during the past few weeks.  It's to the point that there's just too many to scan and list at once, so they'll be appearing little by little over the next few weeks, first on eBay and then over to the catalog.  Movie collectors, more MJ Moriarty Playing Cards to be listed real soon.  And for whomever's interested we've acquired some original Civil War era complete issues of the very popular Harper's Weekly as well as a number of full page prints taken from issues during that period.  They'll be up as soon as they get scanned and listed (in other words soon!).  There have also been some packages arriving with some oddball stuff for you no matter what you collect and I'll try to get them all up and listed as soon as possible.

A nice mix of articles this month, starting off with the return of our New Zealand writer, Chantel Theunissen, and her piece on the legendary Jean Harlow.  Tammy Stone allows an actor to join her Silent Collection for the first time (as we had both noticed) giving the lovely ladies of old an issue off.  She couldn't have picked a better one than the Great Profile himself, John Barrymore.  Enough of the prologue, onto the articles:

JEAN HARLOW
by Chantel Theunissen

After just a decade of movie making her star was shot down - but it was enough time to make a legend out of the original screen goddess - Jean Harlow.

This is just a teaser--check out Chantel's entire article with pictures!

Chantel Theunissen is a freelance writer and film student from New Zealand.  This is her second submission to the things-and-other-stuff web site.

FIRST INTERLUDE:
Our featured collectible this month are some old-time movie cards produced in the United States during the 1910's.  We had been selling a nice grouping of  Kromo Gravure cards and then made a sale to someone out of  our latest lot only to realize that they were very similar, yet totally different cards.  Visit our brief photo essay Similar, but not the Same for the details.  Hope you find it interesting.

The Silent Collection by Tammy Stone
JOHN BARRYMORE

If ever there were a movie family of legendary figures spanning generations, it would be the Barrymore clan. Both in films and real life, from the golden days of the silent screen until today, the Barrymores have lit silver screen and paraded their temperamental sides in public life.

This is just a teaser--check out Tammy's entire column with pictures!

Tammy Stone is a freelance writer and journalist based in Toronto. Watch for her regular column on the greats of the Silent Screen here in ASTOS twice monthly.  Next issue, Clara Bow.

END CREDITS:
As usual, this issue has been a blast to put together.  Thanks to all of the writers, I'm glad that we've found some good people that like to contribute on a regular basis, and the fact that they can write makes it even nicer!  It's always a pleasure to see one of these now familiar names waiting in the inbox because you know you'll get to accept a piece rather then reject another one.  If any subscribers wish to submit a piece themselves please feel free to forward it along to submissions@things-and-other-stuff.com or tell your writer friends to do so.  Of if you'd like to take a more informal approach feel free to post over at The Refreshment Stand -- we haven't yet begun to promote this Discussion Board yet, kind of waiting for some members to get it rolling first, so don't be shy!  And whoever you are, yes I noticed your vote in the Pete Rose poll over there, thank you and feel free to stop back anytime.  I'm going to post a Baseball Hall of Fame poll of some sort over there very soon.  Onto your savings and then we'll wrap this issue up.
